Hello and happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I just wanted to chat quickly about chaos gardening. Have you heard of it? It is what it sounds like… kind of chaotic and I am into it at this point. I like it because I usually buy what is on sale, love scattering seeds and love buying native from local markets and other growers. The pollinators also love chaos gardening. They are who we do all this for, right? Chaos gardening also requires less maintenance overtime. When you first start your chaos garden you will need to tend to your plants more. New perennials and seeds need your care until they are fully established. You might have to thin some of your plants out a couple times a year as well to keep things looking nice. You can also plant annuals to fill in holes and to change things up if you want each year, but the goal is to do less with chaos gardening. My favorite places for chaos gardening are in sunny areas on the sides and back of houses in soil that drains well.
Give chaos gardening a try! It takes less planning, is less stressful, takes less maintenance once established, benefits the pollinators, and looks beautiful! What are your thoughts on chaos gardening?
